ABI TABLE

The Abi Table, named after the word for "blue" in Farsi, is a poolside table essential designed for the Belmond Hotel Caruso in Ravello Italy in mind. The color blue is used in hospitality decor because it creates a sense of calmness and relaxation.

The star and cross tile pattern came from Persian/Iranian historical architecture. This particular pattern can be found as far back in history as the 13th century, as seen in the Eight-Pointed Star-Shaped Tile currently held in the Met Museum. The geometric symmetry and tessellation creates an attractive visual but helps transports viewers to a different place. As the Belmond Hotel Caruso's poolside has starkly white floors and abundant sunlight exposure, the transparency of the glass tiles allows for the beautiful blue tones to shine onto the floor, mimicking the light reflections in the pool and elevates the overall appearance around the lounge area.
